Matcha & hojicha

Matcha or hojicha?

Both come from Japan and both are green tea, yet they taste and feel completely different. That’s why DualCha serves both.

Matcha vs hojicha, caffeine and focus versus calm and low caffeine

Matcha, energy and focus

Matcha is green tea from shade-grown leaves, stone-ground into a fine powder. You drink the whole leaf, not just an infusion, hence the vivid colour and vegetal, slightly sweet taste with a hint of umami.

  • Naturally contains caffeine and L-theanine
  • Energy without a sudden crash
  • Best in the morning and daytime

Hojicha, calm and mellow

Hojicha is Japanese green tea roasted at high temperature. Roasting gives it a brown colour, a caramel-nutty aroma and lowers its caffeine content.

  • Very low caffeine
  • Smooth, roasted taste
  • Great in the evening too
